At Saatchi & Saatchi Synergize, our mission is to integrate Big Love (Saatchi & Saatchi) with Big Data (Synergize). The Big Love in our company was amplified last week when we took part in the worldwide Random Acts of Kindness Week (#RAK15), originally started by Brent Lindeque. The drive is all about doing something nice for someone else – whether you know them or not, in an unexpected way.
We love promoting an office culture of kindness and sharing, so this was right up our alley, and everyone got involved in some way or other.
One of our intern copywriters, Clerissa Visser brought flowers for our client service and SEO teams to brighten up the new office.

We also did a “Treat Drive” for our cleaning staff, with buckets full of yummy snacks and staple food items, to say thank you for their extremely hard work during the office renovations that have been taking place over the last few months.
Some of our SEO, social media, copy and client services staff even took to the streets last week, armed with colorful banners and posters to urge passing traffic to “smile” and “have a great day”.
The ‘Honk if you’re happy’ sign seemed to be motorists’ favourite, and our gorgeous client service ladies got quite a few honks in return.
Our sign-holding shenanigans even earned us a R50 on Somerset Road which we put to our cleaning staff’s food buckets! Ian Bredenkamp from KFM also got involved by tweeting from their office windows above us, and naturally he got a #RAK15 nomination from us.
Plenty of our fellow agencies got involved, too. One of our colleagues at Saatchi & Saatchi Brandsrock bought their tea-lady a gift to give to her daughter on her 13th birthday:
We ended off the week by being interviewed on Cliff Central by Brent Lindeque himself, founder of raknominations.org on his Tuesday morning show called The Good Stuff. As mentioned in the interview, we’ve also gotten extensively involved with #MakeMyMonday this year whereby a member or two of our staff will do something to make Monday a little bit brighter for a colleague.
We love the initiative by Brent Lindeque and his team, and will definitely be making #RAK15 a regular occurrence around the office.
