We were tasked with providing the client with a fresh, modern new look and feel for their website, whilst also ensuring that it was fully responsive across multiple mobile and desktop devices, as well as being SEO-friendly. Lastly, the client also requested that they be able to manage their own content on the website through this new platform. The biggest challenge was then how to migrate and distribute all the website’s content and pages onto the new site, but at the same time, cater for tablet and mobile devices without compromising user experience and functionality.
WHAT WE DID
In order for this massive task to be done smoothly and accurately, several brainstorming sessions took place so that all the content/design/development elements could be tackled, as well as the user-experience hurdles. Wireframe designs were used to establish suitable layout and functionalities for the website. After the wireframes had been approved, we moved onto design, where we translated CARmag’s corporate identity into a visually impressive piece of art. We built the website on WordPress and created custom functionality that would allow the client to manage their content easily on the different sections of the site.
Theme switching and device recognition helps establish which device is being used and then renders the specific design accordingly. Specific templates for desktop and mobile were used to ensure this as well.
The website integrated with a third party data feed that provides CARmag with all its vehicle data, where applicable.
Here are some of the site’s impressive stats and features:
Over 2 million database records
Over 200 000 images
Over 23 000 posts
Over 140 000 unique monthly users
3 external API integrations
Analytics:A tag manager code was added to the website to ensure we could setup and track traffic and leads on the website.
Design & Development: The Design and Development Teams invested a lot of time working alongside each other on the user experience and design requirements that were requested from the client, as well as implementing the necessary changes to ensure that all objectives were met.
“Working with the Saatchi Synergize team has been an absolute pleasure. The task was a difficult one, with many challenges along the way, however the team made up of Charli on design, Petrus on project management, Ed and his team of developers, all took it in their stride, held together by Estelle, the most professional and efficient account director a client could ask for.”
